Dwight "Beaver" Gurley, 70, of Lake City, died Nov. 1, 2016, at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1946, at Caraway, to Earnest Wellton and Earline Walker Gurley. He retired as bookkeeper at the Black Oak Gin and worked for 18 years in the automotive department at Sears. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Lake City and had served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Black Oak Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Christian Bruce.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Gurley; two daughters, Madonna Leann (Keith) Lee, of Jonesboro, and Stephanie Gurley (Dennis) Hardy, of Judsonia, and their mother, Patti Gurley; three stepsons, Jeremy Faulkner of Caraway, Jamie Faulkner of Lake City and Justin Faulkner of Caraway; one brother, Joe Earnest Gurley, of Marion; two sisters, Laura Jean Birmingham, of Montgomery, Ala., and Helen Brooks, of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Tristen Keith Lee, Maranda Breann Lee, Caridee Scarlett Hardy, Haydn J. Faulkner, Drake Faulkner, Dawson Faulkner, Jackson Lee Faulkner, Gus Faulkner and Ashley Davis.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Caraway Cemetery with Kenny Qualls officiating. Pallbearers are Henry Finch, Hershel Colbert, Douglas Jackson, Larry Jackson, Scott Colbert, Mark Colbert, Jeff Finch and Danny Qualls. Honorary pallbearer was Paul Gary Brown.

In lieu of flowers, lasting memorials may be made to Arkansas State University Foundation to benefit the agriculture program.
