Eileen Hagan O'Neal

Mrs. Eileen Hagan O'Neal, 98, of the Huffman Community, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home.

Eileen was born to William "Eddie" and Mary Emma (Sweat) Hagan in Huffman, Arkansas. She was the valedictorian of the first graduating class at Armorel. Eileen worked as the Mississippi County County Collector for 51 years and was a member of the Arkansas Tax Collector Association.

Eileen was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was a member of the Alter Society. She was also involved in numerous community organizations such as Kiwanis, Rotary, Blytheville Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the Charlevoix Chapter of the DAR.

Eileen was a supporter of the Mississippi County Arts Council. In her free time, she loved to paint, read and travel. Recently, Eileen established the Eileen O'Neal scholarship fund at Arkansas Northeastern College.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. O'Neal, Jr. and three sisters, Regina Wimberley, Nora Seibert, and Genevieve Gunn.

Eileen leaves her sister, Geneva White of Campbell, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father T.J. Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Monday evening at Cobb Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
