Mildred "Milly" Long Dailey

Mildred "Milly" Long Dailey, 87, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Crestpark Nursing Home in De Witt, Arkansas.

Milly was born in Blytheville to Robert and Anna Jewell (Burnett) Meador. She graduated from Blytheville High School in 1947 and received her BSE from Arkansas State University, an MSE from the University of Central Arkansas, and did additional studies at Southeast Missouri State University.

A retired educator of 44 years, Milly served 17 years and a teacher and 27 years as an Elementary Principal. Upon retirement in 1994, she was the Principal at Franklin Elementary School in Blytheville. Milly was a member of the Mississippi County Retired Teachers Association, the Arkansas Education Association of Administrators, Delta Kappa Gamma, The Women's Club, a Charter member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at Arkansas State University and one of the first women members of the Chamber of Commerce.

She was a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church until it disbanded, and she then attended Dell Methodist Church. Milly was an active volunteer of the Boy and Girl Scouts of America and the American Red Cross. She was an officer and served on many boards in these various organizations and church. Milly loved traveling, swimming, attending meetings, serving on committees, and volunteering where she was needed. She most loved being with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeral Dailey, and her first husband, George D. Long; and her parents.

Milly leaves her son, Thomas Long and his wife Judy of Gillett, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Tommy Long of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Dr. Bryan Long of Encinitas, California, Crystal Barnes of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and John Neukam of De Witt, Arkansas; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marilyn Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. The family request memorials be made to the Dell Methodist Church.
