Lloyd Earl Somers

Jonesboro -- Lloyd Earl Somers, 86, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 in Little Rock.

He was born October 30, 1929, in Black Oak to the late Lloyd B. and Jewell Johnson Somers. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church since 1957, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for over fifty years. On December 9, the Somers celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. He retired from General Services Administration, US Federal Government. He owned and operated a HVAC business in Jonesboro for over fifty years. Lloyd will be remembered for his service to others and as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by their children and their spouses, Lloyd E. Somers, Jr. (Katie) of Denver, N.C., Cynthia Cooper (Rodney) of Little Rock and Matthew Somers (Stacy) of Blythewood, S.C.; grandchildren, Carl Somers (JoAnna Janson), Helen Somers Yousef (Faisal), Lance Bass (Thao), Lyndsey Piland (Matthew), Natalie James (Nathan), Wesley Cooper (Yana), Clayton Somers and Olivia Somers; great-grandchildren- Lana Yousef, Cooper Bass, Zarah Yousef, Arden Somers, Tobias Bass, Amelia Piland, Cooper Piland, Owen Piland, Audrey James and Luke James; a sister, Pat Cook of Jonesboro and a brother, Gerald Somers of Oklahoma.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Billie Somers; seven sisters and two brothers.

A celebration of his life was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan James officiating. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family received friends from 10:00 until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Wesley Cooper, Clayton Somers, Tracy Mooneyham, Brent Mooneyham, David Ezell and Daniel Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Albert Soo, Bobby Mooneyham, Bill Roddy, Charles Best, Berl Wayne Price, Wesley Gatlin and T G Bolton.
