Jean Ellis "Jack" Pierce, 93, of Maumelle, former longtime Leachville resident, passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at the Stonehaven Assisted Living Center in Maumelle. Born in Senath and raised in Leachville, he was the son of the late Lewis Christopher and India Ham Pierce and had been a longtime Leachville resident before making his home in Maumelle five years ago.

He was a 1941 graduate of Leachville High School, was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII where he served as a bombardier navigator in the Philippines. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years of service. Jack was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Leachville and the First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean McDonald Pierce, in 2008; one daughter, Jean Elizabeth Harper, in 2000; two brothers, Ralph and Robert Pierce.

Survivors include one daughter, Gale Robertson and husband Jim of Maumelle; one sister, Fan Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Johnathan Harper and wife Marcia, Sarah Welch and husband Rich, Kellie Robertson and husband Joseph and Candice Lang; and three great-grandchildren, Levi Robertson, Elijah Robertson and Nikola Welch.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.
