Mary B. Horn, 85, of Manila, the widow of Ray Elwin Horn, passed from this life Friday February 5, 2016 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Banner Bryan and Kitty Ovedee Phillips Moore and was a lifelong Manila resident. Mary quit school after the 8th grade to help her family work in the fields. Later in life she received her GED and truly inspired all who knew her. Mary worked as an Elder in her church and in many community projects. She was a charter member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Mary also worked with state and local agencies to preserve Manila's landmark water tower and was active in assisting the elderly and disabled acquire much needed assistance and benefits.

She was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother, always putting her family first. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny Allen Horn, two daughters, Rebecca Jo Horn and Etta Delene Jones, and three sisters, Louise Parsley, Charlene Bullock and Edith Nichols.

Survivors include her son, Ray Elwin Horn, Jr. of El Paso, Texas;

One brother, Bryan Moore, Jr. of Jackson, Tenn.;

One sister, Faye Russell of Manila;

Four grandchildren, Jeffrey Dale Jones, Tammy Jones, Ray Horn, III, and Kelly Horn.

Mary also leaves her special friend and companion, Ray Boone of Manila.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. J. Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
