Jean Smith

Jean Smith, 91, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Jean was born in Terra Haute, Indiana in 1924. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blytheville. She was a member of the Altar Society and Blytheville Junior Auxiliary. Jean was the co-owner of Lad and Lassie Toy Store. She also loved to travel. Jean was an avid reader and loved going to coffee with the girls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Smith, Sr.; and her parents.

Jean is survived by her children, Douglas Smith (Donna DeMayo) of Vienna, Virginia, Michael Smith (Ellie) of Mission Viejo, Calif., Wayne Smith (Cynthia) of Blytheville, Wally Smith (Ann) of Blytheville, Janet Chapman (Bob) of Blytheville, and Greg Smith (fiancé Charna Ainsworth) of Purvis, Miss.;

Her brother, Charlie Harris (Jo) of Miami Beach, Florida;

13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and

Three special friends, Betty Pharo, Marcie Simon, and Rosemary Hughes, all of Blytheville.

There will be a Celebration of Jean's life Saturday, January 30th from 4-6 p.m. at the Dixie Pig in Blytheville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Deacon Bob Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Blytheville Public Library.
