Tilda Kinnel

Tilda Ann Streeter Kinnel, 93 years of age, departed this life on September 14, 2015 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Ray and Pauline Hastings in Doniphan, Mo., where she had been living for the past year. Prior to that, she lived in Blytheville for 63 years.

She was born in Lake Village, Ark. on October 22, 1921 to David and Etta Woods Walker, and was the step-daughter of Tom Fink. They all precede her in death. She attended school at LaVale, Mo., but married at the age of 16, and began her family the following year.

She was married to Eli Clinton Streeter on September 11, 1937, and he preceded her in death May, 1987 just before their fiftieth anniversary. She married Richard Kinnel, of Blytheville in October 1988 and they were married five years before his death in January 1994.

She retired from the Blytheville School District where she worked for 27 years in the lunch room doing what she loved, being around children and cooking. Her hobbies, in addition to cooking for everyone were sewing and reading her Bible. She always read it through at least once a year and sometimes twice. She loved attending church and was off the Pentecostal faith. She was a charter member of the United Pentecostal Church, which is now the Grace Life Church in Blytheville. She loved writing poetry and was a member of the Mississippi County Writer's Guild. She had many of her poems published in the Courier Newspaper of Blytheville, and in the books that the guild published. She also loved attending the Senior Citizens Center in Blytheville, and spoke of the many friends she had there.

Tilda had a very large and loving family of five children, one step-son, and a nephew that she raised. She also raised two grandchildren, and helped raise great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Streeter, of Blytheville; a son, Donald Streeter, of Olive Branch, Miss.; and the nephew she raised, Charles Hopper, his wife Novolyne, and their son Scott Dewayne Hopper of Paragould, all of whom were like family to her. She lost a grandson, Tracy Epperson, and an infant great-great granddaughter, Angel Ring, and an infant step great-granddaughter, Ashlee Rae Hutcheson.

She is survived by her two daughters, JoAnne (Doug) Jordan of Horn Lake, Miss., and Pauline (Ray) Hastings, of Doniphan, Mo,;

Son Jimmy (Karen) Streeter, of Orlando, Fla.;

Daughter-in-law, Lavonne Streeter, of Olive Branch, Miss.;

Step son Harold Kinnel, of Trumann;

She is survived by 11 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 16 step great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren and 14 step great-great grandchildren, two great-great-great granchildren and one step great-great-great grandchild. That's right, six generations of loving family!

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at her church, Grace Life on Moultrie at 12 noonwith Rev. Shane Spears officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time also at the church. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
