Jonesboro -- Glen Willis Burks, 74, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015. He was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Monette to the late Charley Thomas and Fannie Mae Casey Burks. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. He retired from USAA Insurance Company. He enjoyed fishing, hot rods and classic cars. His passion was foreign missions and he was a faithful member of The Rock Church in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Shelvie Burks; a son, David Burks (Donna) of Woodbridge, Vir.; daughters, Deborah Cosco (Michael) of Nokesville, Vir., and Diana Schregardus of Jackson, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, Ashley Dodson, Britney Cangemi, Ryan Burks, Joshua Cosco, Alexis Cosco, Brandon Spencer, Paige Gild and Arrianne Gild, Rebecca Cooper, Kimberly Johnson, CJ Johnson and Christopher Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Carmen Cangemi, Emma Dodson and Jenna Jackson; two sisters, Wanna Branch of Jonesboro and Linda Rushing of Leachville; a brother, Fred Burks of Manila; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Bunch, and a brother, Charley Thomas Burks Jr.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

A graveside service was 10 a.m. Friday at Monette Memorial Cemetery with pastors Jeff Watson, Terry Watson and Tony Stottlemyre.

A celebration of his life was 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at The Rock Church of Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Josh Cosco, Danny Cangemi, Michael Cosco, Ryan Burks, David Burks, Ben Dodson and Gerald Gild.
