Mrs. Lavern Holbrooks, 87, of Blytheville, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015, a in Etowah.

Born June 10, 1928, in Pemiscot County, Mo., to the late Isaac and Mary Knight, she was reared by the Brock family. She was a member and evangelist of the Heartland Pentecostal Church of God and taught Sunday School for fifty years. She was a pastor's wife, participated in a nursing home ministry, loved to quilt, study the Bible and sing.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Orville Holbrooks; one daughter, Linda Sue Peterson and five grandchildren, David Ray Sanders, Garrett Culp, Cody Culp, Reiley Culp and Amanda Welch.

Mrs. Holbrooks leaves two daughters, Mary (Roy) Blair of Blytheville and Vivian (Ron) Romine of Etowah;

Four sons, Larry (Fay) Holbrooks of Half Moon, Randy (Sara) Holbrooks of Gosnell, Ricky (Teresa) Holbrooks of Half Moon and Michael (Gina) Holbrooks of Half Moon;

A very dear friend, Mable Burris of Gosnell;

Sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 8th at the Heartland Pentecostal Church of God in Gosnell with Brother James Baker and Brother Bobby McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, August 7th at the Heartland Pentecostal Church of God in Gosnell.
