Katherine Solomon Macre, age 86, of Germantown, Tenn. and formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Quince Nursing and Rehab Facility in Memphis.

Born to John and Louise Gundlich Solomon in Washington, Penn., she was an area resident for most of her life and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she served as a member of the Altar Society.

Katherine was a retired school teacher. This sentence speaks volumes as to some of the accomplishments she achieved. She was very adept and dedicated to the challenges she faced every day as she would lead, guide, encourage and mold each of her students to become the best they could be. She was sensitive to the needs of others, showed compassion and was a good leader and friend.

As a past member of the PTA she was diligent in carrying out the tasks they were presented with. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother she gave of herself tirelessly to ensure that in all things Christ was foremost in all they did. She loved to cook for her family and wasn't afraid to try new recipes. She would spend as much time with family as possible and in her quiet moments she loved to read.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Solomon.
