James Darnell Smith

Mr. James Darnell Smith Jr. of Jonesboro lost his battle with cancer on Friday, July 3rd at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born on March 21st, 1943 in the city of St. Louis, he served as the Plant Supervisor for Contico. He was of Baptist faith, and now he can rest knowing that someone else will be leading him.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his father, James Darnell Smith Sr. and his mother Lula Smith.

He leaves behind his daughters Debra Smith of Gary, Indiana and Teresa Jones of Jonesboro;

His sons Alexander and his wife Renee Smith-Kokomo of Gary, Indiana, Sammy and his wife Barbara Jones-Marion, and James Darnell Smith III;

His sister Laveria Brown of St. Louis;

His two brothers, Paul and John Smith;

As well as his nine grandchildren and various other family members and friends.

Both Mr. Smith's visitation and funeral arrangements are being managed by the Wilson Funeral Home. Mr. Smith's visitation will be on Saturday, July 11th at 12:00 pm and will last until 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home in Tyronza. His funeral procession will be held after the visitation is over, and he will be buried at the Riverview Cemetery in Marked Tree.
