Crete Moody Burge

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Mrs. Crete Moody Burge, 87, of Blytheville, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Great River Medical Center.

She was the widow of Dan Burge, to whom she had been married for 62 years. She was born in Denton, Arkansas, on June 6, 1927, to Ed and Mattie Moody.

Crete was well known for her generosity. She always gave money and gifts to neighborhood children, if they were in need, or if they made "A"s on their report cards. She bought ball gloves for them and often played ball with them in her backyard. She had been an excellent basketball player in high school. Crete enjoyed playing golf until she was no longer physically able. She loved boating, skiing and camping at Lake Norfolk with her family. Crete and her husband, Dan, purchased the pews at First Christian Church in memory of their daughter, Debbie. She was a loving wife and mother whose family meant everything to her.

Crete grew up in the Methodist Church, but for the last 30 years, she was at First Christian Church where she was a faithful and valued member of the choir. She often sang specials for Sunday worship, and sang at baby dedications and other special events.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and by the many animals she fed on a daily basis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her daughter, Debbie; and a sister, Ella.

She is survived by a daughter, Danece;
