Herman L. Washington, 49, of Blytheville, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Great River Medical Center.

He was born in West Memphis, but moved to Blytheville as a child. He was a graduate of Blytheville High School.

Herman was self-employed and the owner/operator of Washington Services. He was recently seen by many as the contractor responsible for the demolition of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Chuch at Fifth and Ash streets.

His mother, Selma Washington, preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nicole Lester Washington;

His father, Nathaniel Washington;

Five daughters, Sade Allen, Aneisha Washington, Akira Hudson, Aaliyah Davis, and Anyia Davis, all of Blytheville;

Two sons, Jamal Washington and Barry Davis Jr., both of Blytheville;

Three sisters, Ms. Doris Ann Washington and Mrs. Martha (Ricky) Jefferson, both of Blytheville, and Mrs. Sandra Almond of Suffolk, Virginia; and

Three grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Open Door House of Prayer, 705 Harrison St., Pastor Henry Mays. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Gardens by McDonald-Horne Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the McDonald-Horne Funeral Home Chapel.
