Dan Eldon Minirth, 72, of Manila, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his home.

A lifelong Manila resident, Dan was the son of the late Dan Adam and Pearl Smith Minirth, was a 1961 graduate of Manila High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1960-1968. He was a data processor for Arkansas Power and Light and worked 15 years for Southworth in Manila before his retirement in 2006. Dan was a longtime member and deacon at the Westside Baptist Church in Manila. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and fishing with his grandson, Adam. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in local sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Shirley Clements Minirth of Manila;

One son, Jason Daniel Minirth of Manila;

Two daughters, Danna Rene Mattingly and her husband Michael of Manila and Lorie Dawn Crook and her husband Chris of Manila;

One sister, Norma Roann Henry of Manila;

Five grandchildren, Adam Daniel Blocker, Erica Danielle Minirth, Brayden Mattingly, Collin Crook and Courtney Crook; and

One great-grandson, Landen Blocker.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Jeff Dial and the Rev. Eddie Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 Friday at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Shelton, Eugene Dobbins, Charles Quinn, Frank Kirby, Greg Hawkins and Chad Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will include Chase Shelton, Frank Hamilton, Jimmy Veach, Donnie Wagner, Dale McGrew, Jimmy Adams and Gene Adams.
