Ray W. Brown Jr., 82, of Gosnell, passed from this life Thursday, April 23, 2015, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born to Ray and Blanche Shumaker Brown in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, Ray served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired after 20 years of honorable service. Ray's service continued after he retired by serving as a deputy sheriff for the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department. He also served as an officer with Gosnell Police Department, constable for Bowen Township, and was a Baptist. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing and yard work. One of his passions was crappie fishing. He would fish from Sardis Lake to Norfolk Lake and anywhere in between. He was very dedicated to his family, going to Norfolk Lake whenever he could to spend quality time with them. Ray was an animal lover, but no animal could ever compare to his dog Trixie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Kathrine "Kay" Wells Brown; and a grandson, Nicholas Brown.

Ray is survived by his children, Raymond Brown and his wife Michele of Manila, Richard Brown of Gosnell, Delyn Brown of Gosnell;

Two grandchildren, Brandi Brown and Jason Brown, both of Gosnell; and

A sister, Beverly Brown Buterbaugh of Meyersdale, Pennsylvania.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Union Cemetery in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, under the direction of Price Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Meyersdale, PA 15552.
