Jessie Raymond Hill

Jessie Raymond Hill, 69, of Manila, died April 9, 2015 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born Feb. 3, 1946 in Manila to James Byron Lee and Lois Lorene Murphy Hill, he was a lifelong area resident. He was a retired bus mechanic for the Manila School District, having served 20 years.

If you knew Jessie, you were blessed. The doors to his home were always open and it was the gathering place for many early morning shared cups of coffee and family meals. As the family grew, so did his home. He built on several additions over the years. He held and rocked every single baby that came into his home and every one of those babies was soothed. Within a couple of minutes they were asleep on his chest with their little head on his shoulder. Jessie truly touched everyone, and though he has gone home all those precious memories will forever remain in all of our hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.

Mr. Hill leaves four sons, eight daughters, four brothers, and six sisters;

17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. There are no additional services planned.
