Frank Sanes

Frank Sanes, 75, of Los Angeles, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Veterans Hospital in West Los Angeles, California.

Frank Jr. was born in Double Bridges, Arkansas. His parents were Frank and Margie Russell Sanes, and his brother, Ronnie, preceded him in death.

He left school and joined the U.S. Marine Corps when he was 17. While serving, he received his GED. After being discharged, he moved to California. He worked as a fireman for the Los Angeles Fire Department and later for the Los Angeles Police Department. Later, he worked for the California Highway Division and attended California State University a Los Angeles, where he received his bachelor of science degree.

He graduated from the UCLA Law School in 1972. Upon graduating, he accepted a job with the National Labor Relations Board in New York. After one year in New York, he transferred to the NLRB in Los Angeles. Later, he left the NLRB and opened a private law practice in Los Angeles and continued his law practice until his death. Sanes was a great litigator and was proud of his profession and his contribution in fighting for justice for all.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rachel (Aaron) Alexander of Palos Verdes Peninsula, California;

A son, Matthew Sanes of Northridge, California;

Two grandchildren, Alexander and Alyvia;

A friend and longtime companion, Mrs. Ruth Minor;

Seven siblings, Ellie Sanes of New Carollton, Maryland, Alfred Sanes of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Larry (Patricia) Sanes of Landham, Maryland, Mrs. Marie Sanes Huddleston of East St. Louis, Illinois, and Ms. Carrie, Ms. Ruthie Sanes and Ms. Denise Sanes, all of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; and

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest MB Church, 809 E. Main. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Howard Walker officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Gardens in Blytheville.
