John T. Overman

John T. Overman, 81, of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

John was born in Blytheville to Edward and Minnie (Alton) Overman. In 1948, he graduated from Kennett High School in Kennett, Missouri. John was retired from the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement from the Air Force, he was a civilian electrician at the Blytheville Air Force base for many years.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Overman, who passed away 35 days before him; both of his parents, as well as his stepmother, Pauline Fry of Malden, Missouri; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his sons, John Thomas Overman and Deborah of Goshen, Arkansas, Steve Overman and Dudley Cabras of Millington, Tennessee, and Bruce Overman of Blytheville;

His sister, Grace Gilliam of West Memphis;

Four grandchildren, Blake Overman, John Russell Overman, Elizabeth Ashley Overman and Kayla Graddy; and

One great-grandchild, Bailey Grace Overman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until service time.
