Mr. Jasper L. Winter Jr., 80, of Gosnell, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born at O'Donnell Bend, Arkansas, on June 24, 1934, to Jasper L. Winter Sr. and Cora Betts Winter.

Mr. Winter farmed for many years before going to work for Kroger, where he retired. He loved to fish, dance and just have fun. He enjoyed music and had a band in his younger years. He loved corned beef hash, beans, cornbread and buttermilk. He had a special fondness for his Chihuahua, Katie. He enjoyed playing checkers and dominos, especially with his son-in-law, Dewayne. He met his wife, Bertha, in a grocery store in Tomato, Arkansas, and married her 56 years ago.

His family said he was a good man and a great dad. He made peace with the Lord before his death. He was easygoing and will very much missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Winter; a grandson, Christopher Morris; and a great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Soto.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha of Gosnell;

Two sons, Michael Lee Winter Sr. (and Pam) of Rogers;

Billy J. Winter Sr. of Rogers;

Three daughters, Linda G. Hostettler (and Milton Mosley) of Gosnell, Donna Marie Morris (and Dewayne) of Azle, Texas, and Brenda Darty of Paragould;

Two brothers, L.D. Winter (and Ruth) of Clarksdale, Mississippi, and Leroy Winter of Jacksonville, Arkansas; and

Twelve grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carney Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
