James E. Gipson Jr., 83, of Blytheville, departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born in Blytheville, one of three children born to James and Birdie (Heflin) Gipson, and was a lifelong Blytheville resident.

James met the love of his life Ella Mae Wilson, in Blytheville, and they were united in marriage on Oct. 5, 1949. They were married 62 years at the time of her death in 2012.

James was a kind, honest country boy from Mississippi County who was devoted to his family and was well respected by all that knew him. He ran a successful farming operation south of Blytheville for 46 years. His hobbies included crappie fishing and gardening. He also loved to cook, especially during the holidays. James was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Thomas Gipson; and a sister, Helen Crane.

He leaves behind two sons, Larry Gipson and his wife Nancy of Somerville, Georgia, and Roger Gipson and his wife Darlene of Corning, Arkansas; and

Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Glen Dunnam officiating. Burial will be private.
