You can still have flowers in the winter

While most people have tilled their gardens under and cleared out their flower beds by now, a few of us hard-core gardeners are still pulling fresh veggies of one type or another out of our well-mulched plots. I went out and picked a couple of pea pods, several handfuls of romaine lettuce and spinach and a couple of carrots for a salad just yesterday. The garlic will not be ready until next fall, of course. And the onions met a really terrible fate when hubby Steve mistook them for weeds last week and tilled them under.
