Alice McFarlin

Alice Lorene McFarlin departed this life, Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at home in Alpine. She was born Aug. 23, 1945, near Caraway to Cecil "Archie" and Ruth Pendegraft. Alice was a retired instructional assistant of Buffalo Island Central. She was an active member of the Lockesburg Church of Christ and previously a member of the Monette Church of Christ until her move to Alpine.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James "Bubby" McFarlin, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and Joe May of Amity. Alice was a loving Nana to her grandchildren, Alex and Allen Aultman of Vilonia and Shana May of Amity. She was excited that she was about to be great-Nana to Adelyn Grace Aultman arriving in late December.

Alice is also survived by her sister, Frances Hite of Hillsboro, Mo.; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Pendegraft of Caraway; her mother-in-law, Louise McFarlin of Monette; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Noble Cullum of Monette. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Services were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Dudley Slaton and Bro. Joe May officiating.

The family received friends from 5:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

A second service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at the Monette Church of Christ with Bro. Joe May and Bro. Art Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Monette Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Allen Aultman, Jesse Hite, Robert Hite, Steven Hite, Mark Hite, Mike Hite, Chris Barnes, Sam Hiser. Honorary pallbearers were John Allen Pendegraft, Keith Pendegraft, Kent Cullum, Eric Coulter, Mike Coulter, Burton Coulter, Dudley C. Slaton, Dudley R. Slaton, Jacob Slaton, Jerry Littlefield, and the men of Arkadelphia and Monette Church of Christ.

Final arrangements are entrusted to The Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
