Helen Joy Chadwick

Helen Joy Chadwick, 87, of Leachville, widow of Benjamin Ralph Chadwick, died early Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born in Buchanan, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Edna Burns and had lived most of her life in Michigan. A 1945 graduate of Buchanan High School she was a longtime employee of the Department of Social Services in Benton Harbor, Mich. Mrs. Chadwick had been a Leachville resident since 1988 and was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Hemminger, and two brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Wilbur Dale Hemminger of Jonesboro and James Thomas Hemminger (Brandi) of Black Oak; one daughter, Eleanor Louise Smith of Leachville;

two sisters, Linda Humphreys of Buchanan, Mich., and Pauline Massey of Lawrence, Mich. She also leaves six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Walcott.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
