Calvin Wayne Wadley

Jonesboro -- Calvin Wayne Wadley, 82, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born March 14, 1932, in Tuckerman to the late Homer and Maude Payne Wadley and lived in Leachville until 1985. He was a cotton farmer most of his life and later became a maintenance worker for Jonesboro Public Schools for twelve years. He served at Second Baptist Church in Leachville as a deacon. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a good sense of humor, who was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Ollie Wadley; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Wayne Kender of Jonesboro; a son, Ken Wadley of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Shannon Kender (Stephanie) of Paragould, Misty Allison (Robb) of Jonesboro and Britt Wadley of Jonesboro; four great-grandchildren, Kadin Cline, Anica Allison, Gage Kender and Isabella Kender; a brother, Ellis Wadley of Sulpher Springs, Texas; two sisters, Lois Stone and Lucille Fella both of Tuckerman.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Calvin Wayne Wadley Jr.; two brothers, Bill Wadley and Willard Wadley; two sisters, Polly Conditt and Dorothy Hetler.

A celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Martin and Pastor Dave Burgess officiating. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro.
