Nancy Webb Summitt

Nancy Webb Summitt, 72, of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

She was born on July 1, 1942, in Blytheville, to Walker C. and Juanita (Moody) Webb.

Nancy attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) in Conway, where she received her degree in home economics. She received her masters degree from Southeast Missouri State University. After 34 years of teaching at South Pemiscot School District in Steele, Nancy retired in 1998. Her love and concern for her students continued throughout her life.

On Feb. 16, 1962, she married James Nathan Summitt. They had one child. Nancy was a dedicated wife and mother. Faith and family always came first. The family attended Samford Church of Christ in Steele.

In addition to her love for her family, one aspect of Nancy's enjoyment came from her passion for sewing. She loved to share her talent utilizing creative use of fabrics and designs. She felt fortunate to teach many students this art. Her social activities included membership in Chapter D, PEO.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Harlyn and Dene Webb.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Nathan;

A daughter, Nia Wright and her husband, Tom, of Alamo, California;

A sister, Donna Permenter and her husband, Buck, of Cordova, Tennessee; and

Her grandchildren, Trey and Summitt Wright, of Alamo, California.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29 in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment was at 2 p.m. at Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Missouri.
