After reading article, not voting for hospital tax

Friday, August 1, 2014

To the editor:

I would like to thank the Courier News for the article about the new tax that the hospital would like to pass.

I thought before the article came out that if the people who worked for the hospital's jobs were in jeopardy that I would be all for voting yes to keep the people working.

Well, thanks to the article, I am totally against paying a tax due to the fact they don't really need the money. They just want the money. They want to give raises and buy this and that and put it in a general fund to spend however they see fit. I would encourage everyone to read the article for themselves.

Sooner or later the people are going to have to wake up and realize people are leaving here as fast as they can go. Mississippi County cannot support two hospitals and two courthouses. People are taking their tax dollars out of Mississippi County, and and high taxes are one reason.

We just had a tax removed, and now they want to add another bail-out tax. Capitalism is not about companies asking for handouts because they can't keep their business afloat.
