Mrs. Helen M. Long passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. She was the eldest daughter of Sam and Nellie Blanche Ingram's seven children. She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Blytheville. She moved to Starkville, Miss., in 1967. She was the owner of a ladies clothing store during the 1970s. She retired after working several years in the admissions office of Oktibbeha County Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ruby Nell Brown; three brothers, Willis, Bob, and Gene Ingram; her first husband, William L. Arrington; and her second husband, William S. (Bill) Long.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzette (and Norton) Chaiken of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Lee Ann (and Jimmy) Stewart of Florence, Ala.;

A son, Bill (and Ginger) Arrington of Starkville, Miss.;

Two brothers, Glenn (and Glenda) Ingram of Houston, Texas, and O'Dell (and Robbie) Ingram of Pismo Beach, Calif.;

Ten grandchildren, Sam (and Stephanie) Arrington, Jessi (and Creighton Mershon) Arrington, Amy (and Jay) Yates , Craig Stewart, Katie Stewart, Chad Chaiken, Natalie Chaiken, Tiffany McDavid and William Thornhill; and

One great-grandchild, Kaylee Stewart.

She was a devout Christian and faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She had many friends since she willingly offered friendship and respect to everyone she met.

Next to her Christian faith, motherhood was her highest calling. She answered that call by providing her children and grandchildren with unconditional love and support. She will be missed.

Visitation for Mrs. Long is scheduled for 2-3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Starkville, Miss., with the funeral service immediately following. The Rev. Dickie Bryan will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.
