Nathaniel Postell

Mr. Nathaniel Postell, 87, of Blytheville, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, in his home in Blytheville. Born to the late Mr. Postell and Mattie Rice, he attended Mt. Nebo Church and later True Light Baptist Church. He traveled a lot as a younger man, but always came back to Blytheville. He had been employed by most of the laundries and dry cleaners of early years, and became an accomplished and skilled presser. He was also a self starter and an entrepreneur and started a home business with sno-cones, ice cream, cookies, candied apples and other confectionary treats.

His dearest vocation was his career as a volunteer with the Blytheville Police Department where he served as an auxiliary policeman for 21 years. This was his passion.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Postell, and his mother, Mary Rice.

Mr. Postell leaves one son, Tony Postell of Murfreesboro, Tenn.;

One daughter, Teresa Davis of Orlando, Fla.;

One brother, Bob (and Ruthie) Chatmon of Gosnell; and

A host of cousins, grandchildren and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Blytheville with Theodis Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Yarbro. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home.
