'Tommye' Powell

Mrs. "Tommye" Powell, 87, of Jonesboro, and a former resident of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, April 11, 2014, at the St. Elizabeth Place rehab center. Born to Walter and Roxie Rigsby in Stanford, Ky., she was a homemaker and a member of the Nettleton Church Of Christ..

"Tommye" loved animals and was an avid supporter of the N.E. Humane Society. She was an individual who loved life and lived it to its fullest. She also loved sports -- especially the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. Above all was her love and dedication to her family as only a mother can have to her children. Her parents and her husband, Robert Michael Powell III, preceded her in death.

"Tommye" is survived by her children, Robert Michael Powell IV and his wife, Bonnie, of Mentor, Ohio, William David Powell of Hopkinsville, Ky., Mary Gwen Rupard and her husband, Doug, of Jonesboro;

Her grandchildren, Robert Michael Powell V and his wife, Ginger, Lauren Powell, Dave Powell, Jordan Doyle and her husband, Nick, and Madison Rupard;

Her great-grandchildren, Kiley Powell and Robert Michael Powell VI; and

Her sister, Virginia Leake and her husband, Bill, of London, Ky.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Watson officiating. There will be no visitation.
