Joyce Jackson, 70, of Leachville former longtime Manila resident, the widow of Henry Wesley Jackson, died Sunday Feb. 23, 2014, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Born in Dugginsville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Willis and Parazee Smothers Merriman and had attended Monette High School before making her home in Manila. She had been a Leachville resident since 2010 and was of the Assembly of God faith.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Merriman, Guy Merriman, Joe Merriman and George Merriman; two sisters, Totsi Merriman and Mary Alice Layton; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Chuck Jackson and James Jackson, both of Jonesboro; two daughters, Sherry Farrar and Susan Riley, both of Leachville; a brother, Silas Merriman of Judsonia; a sister, Erma Lee Jackson of Leachville and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday March 4, in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from noon until service time. Private burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Jackson Cemetery in Pearson.
