Edith Laverne Nichols

Edith Laverne Nichols, 74, of Pearland, Texas, former longtime Manila resident, passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the Kindred Hospital in Webster, Texas. Born and raised in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Banner Bryan and Kitty Ovedee Phillips Moore. She had lived many years in Pasadena, Texas, and was a retired beauty operator.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Misti and Brian Prock of Pearland, Texas; one brother, B.B. Moore of Tennessee; two sisters, Faye Russell Walker and Mary Horn, both of Manila; and three grandchildren, Baylan Vaughan, Asher Prock and Cael Prock.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Burial followed in the Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
