Black Oak

L.E. Morgan, 85 of Black Oak, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at his residence.

He was born on June 25, 1928, in Black Oak to the late William Henry and Ida Oden Morgan. Mr. Morgan retired from American Greetings. He was a member the Rivervale Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for over thirty years. He enjoyed gardening and being with family.

He is survived by his children, Linda Parker of Lake City, Brenda Whitney (David) of Black Oak, Martha Teague (Lanny) of Sanger, Texas, Linus Morgan (Shirley) of Springfield, Tenn. and LaDonna Hetler (Chris) of Jonesboro; two sisters, Oletta Hestand of Dowell, Ill., and Rita Tolitte of Sedwick; nine grandchildren, Allen Parker, Lora Ellis, Pamela Prescott, Deanna Smith, Mark Teague, Phillip Teague, Crystal Coffman, Christy House and Cheyenne Parker; fourteen great-grandchildren, Adam Parker, Jessica Harvey, Tony Hendrickson, Charles Hendrickson, Kaylea Perusse, Dustin Perusse, Chandler Teague, Chase Teague, Morgan Teague, Joshua Teague, Christeen Lee, Chris Coffman, Christa Coffman and Luke House; ten great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Harvey, Lydia Harvey, Anna Harvey, Riley Parker, Caden Parker, Carson Parker, Landon Parker, Genna Ellis, Zachary Ellis and Tammra Ellis.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christeen Barrett Morgan; a grandson, Brandon Morgan.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Duffel officiating. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gaylon Barrett, Wayne Roach, Ronnie Thomas, Dale Barrett, Phillip Teague and Mark Teague.
