Monroe 'Sonny' Ward

Monroe "Sonny" Ward, 75, departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at his home in West Memphis.

Monroe was born on Oct. 06, 1938, in Twist, Ark., to Pauline Parker and I.C. Ward. He attended school in Blytheville and later entered into the armed services of the United States Army. He came to know Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist faith.

Monroe lived in St. Louis in his early adult years, where he became employed by General Motors until later retiring out of Fort Wayne, Ind., with General Motors. Some of his enjoyment included playing a few rounds of golf. He was a very loving and passionate person and leaves behind a wealth of community and friends whom will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his loving son, Kerwin Monroe Ward; his parents, Pauline and Lonnie Middlebrooks Sr.; and his paternal father, I.C. Ward; two brothers, Lonnie Middlebrooks Jr. and Roy Middlebrooks; his sister, Joann Taylor.

He leaves to mourn his wife Earnestine Ward;

His son, Victor Ward of West Memphis;

His daughter, Linda Reed of South Bend, Ind.;

Four sisters, Shirley (Terry) Marshall of Blytheville, Lee Ethel (John Henry) Jones of Benton Harbor, Mich., Dorothy (Melvin) Milner of Cleveland, and Mary Louise (Oscar) Brooks of Urbanna, Ill.;

A brother, James (Shirley) Middlebrooks of Blytheville;

Five grandchildren; and many beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be handled by Wolfe Funeral Home of West Memphis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wolfe Brothers facility at 128 S. Seventh St. in West Memphis. The visitation will precede the funeral at 12:30 p.m.
