Elder James Savage Jr., 98, of North Little Rock, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Premier Health and Rehabilitation Center in North Little Rock.

He was born in Lodena, the son of James Savage Jr. and Henrietta Jones Savage.

He worked on the farm and worked as a seasonal migrant worker and was a minister for more than 50 years. He retired a few years ago as the pastor of Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Luxora. He moved to North Little Rock because of his failing health but always thought of the Luxora and Mississippi County areas as home.

He was preceded in death by his parents;

His siblings Nettie, Mary Willie, Alice, Avery, Frank and Vance;

His children, William and Rosie; and

His wives, Estalla Savage and Naomi Dean Savage.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lores Caldwell and Ms. Stella Savage, both of North Little Rock, and Mrs. Lisa (and Robert) Allen of Indiana;

Four sons, James (and Erma) Savage of Little Rock, Avery (and Barbara) Savage and Elder Bobby (and JoAnn) Savage, both of North Little Rock, and Michael (and Demetric) Savage of Indiana; and

Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Luxora, Elder Michael Hooks pastor. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Tabernacle Church of God in Christ at 121 E. Cleveland St. in Blytheville with Elder Willie Beal pastor. Buriall will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Burdette. Arrangements are by McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.
