Queen Ester Anderson

Mrs. Queen Ester Anderson, 78, of El Paso, Texas, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at her home.

Born to the late Calvin Hopkins and Estella Taylor Beecham in Buena Vista, Miss., she was a retired substance abuse counselor for the Salvation Army and a member of Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Anderson; two sisters, Willie Jean Thomas and Carolyn Mary Essie Pendleton; three brothers, Clarence White, Charles Thomas and Norman Gene Hopkins; and one grandson, James Terry Doss Jr.

She leaves behind two daughters, Connie Coleman of El Paso, Texas, and Kim Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska;

Six sons, Terry (and Sara) Doss of El Paso, Texas, Jerry Doss of Anchorage, Kelsey (and Marion) Doss of Lawton, Okla., Tom (and Tam) Doss of Willingboro, N.J., Derrick Doss of Anchorage, and Tracey Doss of Anchorage;

Four sisters, Essie Kate (and Booker) Windom of Driver, Nancy (and J.T.) Yankway of Blytheville, Betty Jean (and Lavoy) Perry of East St. Louis, Ill., and Frances Harris of Detroit;

Three brothers, Peter Holiday of Chicago, John Hopkins Jr. of Detroit and Michael Hopkins of Detroit; and

Thirty grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Great Macedonia M.B. Church with the Rev. Bryant Whitted officiating. Burial will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Anchorage.
