Shirley Woody Leggett, 64, of Jonesboro, and formerly of Gosnell, passed from this life on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the University Arkansas Medical School (UAMS) in Little Rock.

Born in Huffman to Joe and Vernie Davis Woody, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Shirley loved to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was blessed with a special, contagious laugh which would always seem to perk you up.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Wade Leggett, and a brother, Charles Woody.

Shirley is survived by her children, Doug Leggett Jr. and wife Tina of Damascus, Ark., Kenneth Leggett and wife Tanya of Greenbriar, Ark., David Leggett and wife April of Jonesboro;

Her siblings, Will and Rita Woody of Steele, Anita and Ken Bianchetti of Westmont, Ill., Clarence Woody of Proctor, Ark., Bobby Woody of Memphis, Patricia and Chuck Allen of Linolake, Minn., Cathy and Charley Wilson of Morehouse, Mo., and James and Ellen Woody of Matthews, Mo.;

Her grandchildren, Colby Leggett, Brenna Leggett, Grace Leggett, Eli Leggett, Samantha Burnett, Taylor Burnett, Gary Hall, Erica Hall and Austin Hitchcock;

Three great-grand children, Nevaeh Burnett, Lillie Burnett and Brandon Burnett; and

A host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Number 8 Cemetery near Cooter, with the Rev. Gary Hyde officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Home.
