Stay aware of breast cancer

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

To the editor:

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, breast cancer does not.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, and 1 in 8 will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. With research and new treatment options today, there are more than 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.

Preventing and detecting breast cancer should be a health priority for all women. My annual screening helped save my life. All breast cancers are not lumps and can only be detected by mammograms. If it is time to have your mammogram, schedule yours today! Early detection is very important.
