Mrs. Mildred C. Wolfe, 90, formerly of Bethany Village, West Coxsackie N.Y., passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at the Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont, N.Y. She was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Norwich, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Henry and Gladys (Babcock) Elwyn.

Mildred helped in the raising of her younger brothers and sisters. She worked all of her life beginning in a typewriter factory and then in a defense plant during WWII. She loved to travel and see new places. She especially loved caring for children, gardening and making beautiful ceramics.

She especially loved watching movies with John Wayne and Clark Gable and any movies with animals. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was known as the nurturer and was the focal point of the family, always offering nourishment and comfort to anyone who came to her door. She had great wisdom and always had all of the answers.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick Tice, in May 1970; and her second husband, Frederick A. Wolfe, June 26, 2003, in Maui Hawaii; her son, John Robert Tice, Nov. 16, 2010; and three brothers Robert, Henry and Charles Elwyn.

She is survived by her son Charles Tice of Arkansas;

Two daughters, Johanna Benker of California and daughter in law Debra Tice of Rensselaer, N.Y.;

Two sisters, Betty Thomas of Texas and Doris Bailey of Sidney, N. Y.;

Five grandchildren, Debra Jo Hughes of Philmont, N.Y., Charles Benker of California, Rebecca Tice-Cooper of Arkansas, April Seney of Rensselaer and Geoffry Govertsen of Rensselaer;

Three great-grandchildren, Lolana J. Hughes of Philmont, Grace Seney of Rensselaer and Brandon Cooper of Arkansas and an expected great-grandson, John Michael Seney, and

Nieces Sarah, Elizabeth and Nancy Slutzky-Cahill.

Calling hours will be held at Richards Funeral Home 29 Bross Street, Cairo, N.Y., from 5-6:30 p.m. today. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Condolences may be made at www.richardsfuneralhomeinc.net
