Mr. Hamlin C. Dodson, 84, of Blytheville, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the family home in Blytheville.

He was born at Pecan Point June 3, 1929, to Walter and Augusta Greenwood Dodson.

He lived in the Number Nine Community and was a member of Mt. Nebo Church in Barfield and St. Paul in Barfield.

He was an employee of Bush Canning Company until his retirement. In earlier years, he was a farm worker.

He was a devoted and diligent provider for his family, a "great dad." He enjoyed working on his automobiles and passing his knowledge to his daughters. He loved to meet people and no one was ever a stranger.

His parents and sister Myrtle and brothers Hugh, Chester and Olin preceded him in death.

He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Alfreda Dodson;

Five daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Dodson McGhee (and Thomas) of St. Louis, Mrs. Jannett Dodson Frazier of Blytheville, Ms. Jacqueline Dodson, Ms. Ermagene Dodson and Ms. Gwendolyn Dodson, all of Memphis;

Six grandchildren, Tracey McGhee, Mrs. Katrina McGhee Parnell (and Eric), Bridget Smith, Joseph "Rudy" (and Teena) Smith, Shaun Alexander and Reginald Frazier; and

Five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. McHaney St. in Blytheville, with the Rev. Odale Jones pastor and the Rev. Jacquin Benson eulogist. Burial will follow at Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today (Friday) at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home in Blytheville.
