Martha Bogue Fisher of Blytheville died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at her home.

She was born March 24, 1918, and raised in Tchula, Miss., by her parents Lora Ruby Bogue and Thomas Jefferson Bogue, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Delta State College in Cleveland, Miss. with a major in education.

After teaching school several years, she married Earle William Fisher. Martha and her husband Earle raised their family of four children in Greenwood, Miss., where she was part of her children's activities, a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and manager of Fisher's Gifts.

Martha, lovingly known as Butter by family and friends alike, was preceded in death by her husband, Earle William Fisher, in 1986; her great granddaughter, Mary Witten Smith, in 1996; and her daughter Shery Fisher, in 2005. Butter's strength and faith provided a source of comfort for all.

Butter is survived by her children Patsy Fisher Smith (Witt) of Yarbro, Billy Fisher of Suwanee, Ga. and Seven Pines, Miss., and Dody Fisher Erickson (Tom) of Denver, Col. Her memory is also cherished by grandsons Gregg Smith (Valerie) of Memphis, Bo Smith (Leah) and Matt Smith (Kesha) of Blytheville, Chip Erickson and Lee Erickson of Denver, Col. Her great grandchildren, Witt, Emily, Anna Claire, Sarah Kate, Ty and Costner brought such joy into her life. Butter also loved her faithful Yorkie companions, Tasha and Tinker.

Her family is grateful for the many blessings Hospice nurse Stacy Brown, Pastors Robin Moore and Marilyn Webb, and loving caregivers Juanita Jones and Cynthia Whitehorn provided not only Butter but her family as well. The care and concern by the Westminster Village Staff is also deeply appreciated.

Graveside services will be conducted by Reverend Marilyn Webb at Oddfellows Cemetery in Lexington, Miss. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Blytheville Humane Society or the charity of choice. Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
