John Zepherino O'Brien III

Mr. John Zepherino O'Brien III, 78, of Osceola, entered into rest Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in Osceola. Born Saturday, Jan. 5, 1935, in Blytheville, to the late John Zepherino O'Brien II and Mary Louise Scott O'Brien, he was a member and lifetime deacon of First Baptist Church in Osceola for 38 years and retired after 23-1/2 years of service in the United States Navy Medical Corps as a Lt. Commander/Hospital Administrator.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years and two months, Lou O'Brien of Osceola;

One son, Michael Allen (and Phyllis Joy) O'Brien of St. Louis;

One daughter, Kim (and Rick) Atkinson of Johnsonville, S.C.;

Six grandchildren, Chris Fox, Brien Fox, Hollie Petry, Stacie Ogburn, Michael O'Brien II and Marcus O'Brien;

Seventeen great-grandchildren;

One sister, Mary Louise Patton of Ann Arbor, Mich.;

One brother, Capt. George Eugene O'Brien of Virginia Beach, Va.; and

A host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Osceola. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Osceola.
