Trash pickup problem signals city's woes

Friday, July 19, 2013

To the editor:

The trash in my immediate neighborhood hasn't been picked up in almost a month. If you look in the phone book, the phone numbers for the Blytheville city administration seem to be missing, probably done on purpose to avoid the many complaints. The voice at the Public Works said their trucks are broken down and they can't afford repairs and they can't work overtime.

It looks to me as if the people of Blytheville are seeing what happens when thieves aren't apprehended and punished immediately. A new generation of scoundrels seem to have come along to take over. If there was any justice, the state would come in and clean this mess up.
