Martha Joann Ward Lucius

Mrs. Martha Joann Ward Lucius, 80, of Osceola, passed from this life Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.

Born in Blytheville to Joe Vance and Bertha Stromire Ward, she was a bookkeeper for Winston Morgan Insurance Company and a member of First Baptist Church in Wilson.

Joann enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching and traveling. She liked to go camping and trout fishing in Red River and Norfolk Lake and loved to water ski even though she couldn't swim. She was an adventurous cook who loved to try new recipes and her specialty was her chocolate pies. She enjoyed dancing and listened to a variety of music. Joann's family was her life and she was devoted to her them and her friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Lucius; and her son, Terry Joe Lucius.

Joann is survived by her children, Ricky Lucius and wife, Teresa, of Conway, Malissa Lucius and partner, Cindy Compton, of Bartlett, Tenn., Dwayne Lucius and wife, Gina, of Wilson;

Her sisters, Peggy Crews and husband, Kenneth, of South Fulton, Tenn., and Alice Smit and husband, Gene, of Albuquerque, N.M.;

Her grandchildren, Terry Wayne Collum, Kelly Collum, Samantha Lucius, Cole Lucius, Brandon Lucius, Aaron Lucius, Ayla Harris and Abby Harris; and

Ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Dogwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Weathers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home.
