W.R. 'Bill' Johnson

Mr. W. R. "Bill" Johnson, 83, of Blytheville, died Friday, july 5, 2013, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Born in Selmer, Tenn., to the late Thomas Carroll and Eula Mae Flowers Johnson, he was a long time resident of Blytheville and a member of the Ruddle Road Church of God. He retired from Entergy as an electric serviceman. Bill loved reading and watching movies. He really enjoyed watching the Hopper's farming, and on occasion they would let him drive a tractor or a combine. A member of FFA in high school, he was also a gardener and a farmer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elbert S. Johnson Sr., Eugene Johnson, and Thomas Johnson Jr., and his sister, Virginia King.

Mr. Johnson leaves his wife of 64 years, Joyce Johnson of the home;

Two daughters, Jeanette (and Randy) Hart of Atlanta, and Lynne Scott and her fiancé, Cary Wells, of Jackson, Tenn.;

One son, David (and Sherry) Johnson of West Memphis;

One brother, Hollice Johnson of Memphis; and

Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Pankey officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home.
