Mildred Leather Fason

Mrs. Mildred Leather Fason, 95, of Blytheville passed from this life Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Gosnell Health Care.

Born in Mt. Vernon, Ark., to Marion and Myrtle Risley Webb, she was a former clerk at Dollar General Store and attended the Tyler, Mo., Church of God and often visited with Trinity Baptist Church when she moved to Blytheville. When her health declined and she couldn't attend church anymore, she enjoyed reading the scriptures and reminiscing with her family.

In the fall of 1934, Mildred married the love of her life, Josh Fason in Mt. Vernon and the love she had for him and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was endless and unconditional. She was very talented with gardening, sewing, quilting and crocheting. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and taking care of people. Mildred worked at picking cotton, laundry shops, Rice Stix Shirt Factory and Bush Canning Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Josh Fason; grandsons Bubba Fason and Tommy Fason; a great-grandson, Joshua Higgins; her brother, Cleo Webb; her sisters, Irkle McKay, Ziliby Hendrickson, Litha Wallace, Louise Taylor and Carmen Kraus; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Fason; and son-in-law, Billy Joe Hardesty.

Mildred is survived by her son, Carthal "Arkie" Fason of Heber Springs;

Her daughters, Shirley Russell and husband, Jimmy, of Blytheville, Myrtle Higgins of Gosnell and Reva Hardesty of Pace, Fla.;

Her grandchildren, Carla Ward, Melinda Hunt, Junior Fason, Lisa Moody, Tim Russell, Janice Brandenburg, Gene Higgins, Rhonda Dickson, Sheila Still, Donna Higgins, Michael Hardesty, Cindy Hardesty Pace;

"Oodles" and "oodles" of great and great-great-grandchildren; and

Her sister in law, Betty Webb of Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Lacer officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
