Verlie King

Verlie Mae King lived 97 years, graciously. She was born June 6, 1915, and died Jan. 11, 2013. She was a loving mom and a best friend. She came down from the hills in Daviess City, Ky., in a covered wagon and settled in Arkansas. She was a longtime resident of Caraway, Ark. In 1991 she moved to Missouri to be close to her family. She was a grandmother, great-grandmother and more.

She is survived by three sons, Clifton E. King of Alabama, Gene A. King of Washington, Ill., Donald W. King of New Port Richy, Fla., and other extended family including Paul Leonard who loved and cared for her. In addition she had one living daughter, Bettye J. Leonard of St. Ann, Mo., and one daughter deceased Jan. 22, 2011, Irene M. Powell of Pontiac, Mich.

Mrs. King lived for her family and she loved from her heart.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Caraway at 1 p.m. June 16.
