Juanita Davis, 89, of Blytheville went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Manila Nursing Center in Manila after a long illness.

Born on Feb. 3, 1924, in East St. Louis, Ill., to James "Jim" Henderson and Eva Mae Phelps Davis, she graduated from Blytheville High School with the Class of 1943. After graduation she attended Mrs. Burnett's Secretarial School and majored in bookkeeping, shorthand and typing. This career gave her many favorable commendations and awards. She typed many doctoral dissertations, as well as many theses for many educators. She was also a notary public.

Juanita was a faithful and true member of the Grace Life Church of Blytheville for 77 years, where she served as bookkeeper, Out-Reach Leader, Sunday School teacher and devoted many hours to charitable projects. She often gave of her time and finances to meet the needs of others. Her entire career life was in the education field for a total of 64 years. Her last 41 years of school employment was as Executive Secretary for John Roden, Mississippi County School Supervisor, who often said that her service was great, outstanding, sincere and loyal.

Juanita served many years in the Women's Business Club of Blytheville and was honored by the Mississippi County Board of Education by receiving a lifetime membership in the State of Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Local Mississippi County Retired Teachers for 26 years and has typed their yearbook for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Davis; and sisters, Pauline Alexander and Betty Lou Coleman.

She is survived by a special niece that lived with her, Wanda Lou Thompson of the Manila Nursing Home; and a nephew, James Arthur Coleman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
