Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Gibbs

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Gibbs, 89, of Manila, widow of Mr. Claud Gibbs, passed from this life, Thursday May 16, 2013 at the Manila Nursing Center. Born at Camargo, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Amanda Feeler Dyke and was a 1941 graduate of Villa Grove High School in Camargo. She lived most of her life in Illinois, was a retired piano teacher and a member of the Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gibbs, a grandson, Jason Timmer, and a great-granddaughter, Abbey Renee Sevor.

Survivors include 3 daughters; Shelia Knutson of Honolulu, Hawaii

Marcia Grimsley of Paragould and Laurel Froman of Monette;

1 brother, David Dyke of Camargo, IL;

4 sisters, Shirley Moore of Mt. Home, Margie Gunther of Mt. Home, Josephine Novak of Calumet City, IL and Carolyn Goenenwein of Dyer, Indiana and;

She also leaves 5 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Jim Rupert officiating. The family will receive visitors Monday from Noon until service time at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois.
