Donations sought for local Prayer Garden

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

To the editor:

Members and friends of First Christian Church have been busy planning and designing the Blytheville Prayer Garden. If you are not yet familiar with the project, the Blytheville Prayer Garden will be a beautiful place where all Christians in Blytheville -- regardless of denomination or church affiliation -- can come and become closer to Christ.

Located on Walnut Street between Sixth and Seventh streets, the Blytheville Prayer Garden features seven small gardens which surround an outdoor Chapel. Once completed, the prayer garden will be available to all churches, Christian groups and individuals for prayer, meditation, outdoor services, weddings or small Christian concerts. Fundraising is underway now and soon shovels will be hitting the ground.

I'd like to tell you about a unique opportunity in the month of May for all citizens of Blytheville to participate in the giving process. Since May is known for springtime and planting, and since gardens are made up of seeds that have taken root and grown, we will be holding a "Scattering Seeds" fundraising window from May 1 to May 31. Citizens can contribute $1,000 to the "Scattering Seeds" campaign and receive a limited-edition commemorative shovel engraved with Blytheville Prayer Garden. Since the garden will be available to every Christian in Blytheville, we'd like to open the invitation of giving to everyone.

To participate in "Scattering Seeds," please make checks payable to Blytheville Prayer Garden at First Christian Church and bring them to the church office at 600 W. Main Street, Blytheville AR 72315. Or visit our website at www.blythevilleprayergarden.com and donate through Pay Pal or with your credit card.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 and 5 says, "There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven." A time to scatter and a time to gather. At this time, I hope you will consider joining this giving opportunity to scatter seeds and watch the Blytheville Prayer Garden grow.
